Palm says no

Palm will stop its service to outside devices in asia. This means, if you buy a palm out of asia, US for example, and bring it back to China, you can not ask palm to repair it here, no matter for free or not. The only thing you can do is take it to the place you purchased it and have repair service there. Of cource throwing it away is another idea.

As I said, palm is a company who provides very good services. No matter where you bought the palm, if it is in warranty period, palm will repair it for free (exclude you damaged it yourself).

Why did palm change its warranty rule? I think it is one of the reason:

Everyone knows his palm can be sold at a higher price if it looks newer. And palm will mail a new-look one to you if you asked for repair and send it to palm. So many many people asked palm to “exchange” their palm to a new one (in fact just surface) and then sold it at a good price. Until… palm thinks he can’t afford it.

IBM, Palm, What’s the next one?

I feel sad, sorry and worried.

Bought a bluetooth earphone

I saw a post of selling bluetooth earphone in the day before yesterday at a low price (100rmb). Because my Treo650 has this technology but I had never used bluetooth earphone with it, I decided to buy it. The whole process is interesting.

The seller is also a familiar gay in that forum as me (in fact he came to the site even more early than me) and we know each other. So the trade process is very simple. I asked him to mail it to me first, then I would pay him if it works with my Treo650, otherwise I would post it back to me.

He lives in another city but within the same province with me. So only after one day I received the goods. Acturally I have to say the appearence of the earphone is ugly? It is a bit large and looks not fashionable…

However it works with my Treo650. Then the next step is pay him. He gave me a account number of China Merchants Bank, but its transfer fee is a little expensive. A friend of us said if I can charge the same amount for the seller’s mobilephone. We all agreed.

Then I bought a charge card in the Taobao which even costs me less then 100rmb

Interesting process.

Google releases its local search in China

http://bendi.google.com

The domain name can be seen as a integration of Chinese and English. “bendi” is a phoneticize in Chinese which means local.

Though the name is somewhat strange, the service it provides is really useful. The data is not very ample now but I am sure after some time it will be very useful when we need to find some place in the city.

Do you remember the site:? http://www.go2map.com? It has been bought by sohu. But after two months of the purchase I still can’t see any change of it.

No doubt. Try to enter the bendi.google.com in your browser and use it.
